I participated in this forum for the purpose of getting in touch with and interacting with
internati onal ideas about my research.
At the Forum, I explained the proposal of the design guideline of Public Space that makes the
best use of the charm of Cold City. I organize the content of the exchange of opinions after my
presentation as follows.
Because t
here was a part similar to the urban environment in Russia, I was able to sympathize
with it. Overseas professors seemed to be interested in how to design concretely. They also seemed
to be interested in the good examples of other outdoor spaces.
In my re
search, I was able to evaluate advanced cases in the city center of Sapporo by
investigating the usage in detail based on the data. In order to evaluate the city center, I tried to
eliminate my subjective opinions as much as possible. On the other hand, af ter experiencing this
forum, I learned that it is also necessary to have an opinion on how I would like to plan concretely. I
didn’t think too much from the designer’s point of view. I think it is important to have an attitude that
values being based on objective ideas in order to conduct research. However, as a person who
learned architecture, I felt that I should be aware of the position of proposing my thoughts to the
future society through design. In other words, I felt that it was necessary to think so that I could
choose a position different from research.
Finally, I write about my relationship with Russia. Russia, which has a snowy and cold city, is
in common with Sapporo, so I think it would be interesting for my research to analyze while
comparin g the two countries. I would like to analyze the differences in national character and think
about plans and designs that will make the city more enjoyable.
