Introduction of My Research Thesis
Before my arrival I had some ideas for my research. Later, after reasoning and travel, I stopped on a topic that connects architecture and society. I call this term a «friendly» urban Space. This topic applies to common life, which directly connects people and city.
Tactile tiles
First on arrival immediately noticed that all transits for people actually are equipped with special tiles:
- Warning Stairs, have different ways to change;
- Stacked directly on the turning point;
- Follow with way;
- Equipped near traffic lights, trees, other thing which stopped the way.
Tiles are not only on the street, but also in the public center.
As well as in stairs each step is marked with bright and reflective stripes and each column or barrier is marked with a bright ribbon.
Everywhere for example in elevator, on plan of space, in subway – keywords are duplicated on Braille language for blind people.
In additional traffic lights accompanied by a special sound signal. As well as the entrance to the subway is also accompanied by sound signals.
Thanks for this tile and other things for help, the movement of visually impaired and blind people becomes safer and understandable.
and city.
Elimination of multilevel
Multilevels is a problem of many peoples. Disabled people, mothers with baby carriage or just people who carry huge baggage. There is a solution to avoid this problem.
Magnetic lifts for people with disabilities. Elevators. Ramps are present on each hill, as well as to enter the public transport extends a special platform-ramp. Low floor bus.
In the shopping centers near the entrance in a specially designated place, you can take a wheelchair if it necessary.
Cases in Russia
Japan significantly differs from Russia in the rules organization of urban space for people with disabilities.
For example in my hometown Khabarovsk we have only one place where observe almost all the rules in a new underground passage in the railway station.
These are common situation in Russia. It’s fun, but really sad.
City for a comfortable life
I conducted a small survey and analysis identified features that can not be found in Russia.
Parking for cyclists. Toilets for people with disabilities, as well as for people with children – mother and child room.
I noticed that in almost buildings there is a device – defibrillator. People who suffer from cardiovascular disease wear special badges, notes that the case at all, people have provided urgent care.
I surprised to see smoking area. This idea has healthy aspect.
What I Learned (Studied) in Hokkaido University
We learned more subjects for engineering than for architecture, but I think these knowledge are necessary too for future career.
Our subjects: Building Structural Design, Design of Architectural Environment, Urban Disaster Mitigation, Lifetime Engineering for Civil Infrastructure, Geotechnical Measurement, Environmental Energy Engineering.
The first three subjects was the best. It was very interesting and cognitively to listen these.
In additional we have Japanese courses: Grammar, Communication and Kanji. I’m glad to study new language. Sensees were helpful and friendly.
How I would you like to use my achievement/experience/result of the study in Hokkaido University (RJE3 Program) for my future research and career
After arriving in Khabarovsk, I will certainly finish my master’s degree. I will try to develop skills in the Japanese language. I am sure that for future career my Japanese experience and study will help me. Because we learned subjects, which we didn’t study in Russia and of course we live in another country with anther culture, traditions. People in Japan very friendly and cheerful. I really love this country. I may return to Japan, not once.
Other Comments
I want to say thank you for this chance to participate in this program, thank you to organizers, supervisor, professors, friends. I very happy to get this experience and to know another life.
