SDGs Field study: History, Language and Art in Northern Region (NJE3) was held in Bulgaria.
From November 18-25, “SDGs Field study: History, Language and Art in Northern Region (NJE3)” was jointly held with support from Sofia University in Bulgaria. A faculty member from the Graduate School of Humanities and Human Science and 11 students from Hokkaido University participated in this field study.
During the 8 days, participants visited museums, art galleries, and architectural monuments in Sofia. They visited Plovdiv which is the second largest city in Bulgaria, and World Heritage “Rila Monastery” as an excursion, as well. They experienced living in harmony with history of Bulgaria. They made a Courtesy call to the Embassy of Japan in Bulgaria. There were many interdisciplinary opportunities to study with Sofia University students. In addition to taking the common lectures at Sofia University, cultural exchange activities were held, including Bulgarian dance lessons.
Through this field study, students deepened their understanding of the language, culture and history in Bulgaria and Slavic languages area.
