Content of the report
This year I took part in RJE3 Basic Subjects 2019 under the East Russia-Japan Expert Education Program.
This program consists of 3 courses: Introduction to Far East and Arctic Studies RJE3 Program: Environment, Culture and Sustainable Development, RJE3 Special Seminar 1: Past and present of Hokkaido: history of Ishikari and Sorachi, Yakutsk field short course: Permafrost ecosystem in the Arctic regions.
The aim of the course was the exchange of knowledge and experience for the development of Far Eastern and Arctic studies. The RJE3 courses, which were held at the University of Hokkaido, were attended by students and teachers from various universities. At Hokkaido University, we attended lectures and seminars where teachers and students from different universities took part. For a deeper introduction into the history of Hokkaido, we were shown many museums, thanks to which I learned a lot about the history of Hokkaido and Japan. All these places show how much the Japanese value their history and nature.
Learning outcomes
From this program, I received a lot of useful information about the sustainable development, culture and environment of the Far East and the Arctic, which will be useful for my research work. The experience gained throughout the entire RJE3 course will be useful in the future for participating and speaking at various events.
Experiences in japan
Thanks to RJE3 courses, I learned a lot about Japan. Here people are very kind and hospitable. And I see as Japanese peoples love and value their nature and animals. For example, in order to reduce an influence people on environmental pollution, here people sort waste on burnable, non-burnable and etc. What help can reduce emission various aerosol in atmosphere. During the tour, we visited different cities and museums. We learned a lot about people living on this island, about their histories, culture and traditions.
Influence on future career goals and choice
Participation in the RJE3 program gave me a lot of new and useful information about the differences between Japan and Russia in different aspects. For example, during the discussion after the lecture in our group, we touched on various problems from our countries. In addition, together exchanging knowledge and experience we helped each other to solve these problems. Thanks to what I have expanded my knowledge in the field of different sciences and different ways of solving problems. What in the future I hope will come in handy in my career.
