I study the ecology and behavior of a class of marine animals called the cephalopods (squids and octopuses). They are the target of important fisheries here in Asia and throughout the world.
PAREプログラムに参加する学生に期待すること
The world is changing quickly. No one knows what it will look like in 2050, but there are four critical skills called “the four Cs” that everyone is going to need: critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity. Don’t come to this program with the goal of cramming more information into your brain. Rather come prepared to develop these four skills.
今まで実施したスクールで印象にのこっている出来事
The 2020 PARE Summer School in Thailand faced some major unexpected challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At times it was difficult for the students, but they adapted well to the uncertain situations. As the world changes, dealing with the changes while maintaining your mental balance in unfamiliar situations such as a global pandemic will also be important skills.
今後のプログラムの展開に期待すること
The world is changing fast, and the pace of change is only going to accelerate. I expect the PARE program will continue to develop coursework and activities that help students develop “the four Cs” to prepare for an exciting but uncertain future.
