・Participation motive
I chose the seminar “Fieldwork on Development Technologies in Cold Region” because it is close to my research interests. In addition, I believe that this course is relevant for students from Russia, because a huge part of our country is in an extremely cold climate. The development of technologies in the northern regions of Japan can become an example for our country, if people appear capable of initiating such projects.
・What you learned from practical training
The course included introductory lectures, presentations and independent work of students to develop their own ideas for the development of cold regions. Unfortunately, this year, overseas students did not have the opportunity to visit places such as the National Ainu Museum, Eniwa Kogane Community Center and Eniwa Kashiwanomori Community Center, but Hokkaido University students showed us many photos and videos, helped us to virtually immerse ourselves in this atmosphere.
The course program was incredibly versatile and interesting. As a student of International Relations, it was interesting for me to learn something new in the field of architecture, construction and technology.
An entertaining part of the course was the acquaintance with the National Ainu Museum, which our colleagues from Hokkaido University told us about.
These pictures of National Ainu Museum were taken by participants of Hokkaido University.
・About future course and relations with Russia
This program of Hokkaido University, in my opinion, can encourage young specialists and researchers to comprehensively study the northern regions of Russia and the Far East.
