I am a second-year master student at the Institute of Architecture and Design at Pacific National University. My research work is related to the problematic areas of workers’ neighborhoods at industrial enterprises in the city of Khabarovsk. Topic of the master’s thesis ” evolutionary model of the urban structure of workers’ neighborhoods on the example of the city of Khabarovsk in Russia”.
The main goal of the dissertation is aimed at the development of territories, where will propose the creation of a modern workers’ neighborhoods with a level of comfort by placing workplaces and service facilities within walking distance; taking into account the needs of different social groups with different family composition; with the level of income and the formation of a safe environment by organizing elements of open space, designing the volume and landscaping the environment.
Thanks to the cooperation of the Universities, students, including me, have a good opportunity to participate in the program and learn more about culture and development in different directions. And help in creating a competent research work.
I had three courses: «Architectural and Urban Space», where we studied housing experience and Lighting planning as a part of urban planning. Professor Rie Nomura gave us a lot of information which later helped me with my dissertation. «Urban Disaster Mitigation», where professor Nobuo TAKAI told us in his lectures about natural disasters in Japan and methods of confrontation. «Design of Architectural Environment», where Professor МОРИ shared with us how to measure, calculate and understand the internal environment of buildings. Each course I took influenced my research work.
Through the RJE3 program, I have learned a lot. Initially, I will direct all my knowledge to writing and designing my master’s dissertation.
I am very glad that I got the chance to study at Hokkaido University. I am sure that the knowledge gained will be useful to me in the future.
