PARE サマースクール2021

As a Hokkaido university student, it was such a great opportunity to participate in this PARE 2021 Summer program with the consortium universities from Indonesia and Thailand. This program brings all about the environmental awareness from different perspective and understanding of why our human have great responsibilities in creating, saving the beautiful world and the nature. The most interesting part of this program is having the group members from different countries (Thailand, Indonesia, and Japan) and sharing our thoughts by the zoom due to covid situations. Even though due to this pandemic, the university professors and PARE program staffs from Hokkaido University gave their best, by providing the facilities to all the participants.

From this PARE program, I got incredible knowledge and thinking that it really benefits to my current research. So, I am really happy that it was my right decision for I can think broadly by also adding the facts that I learnt from this program. So, what I actually learnt is that, for as a student who study for the environment should have some kind of knowledge to some extent such as water quality, biological activity, climate, and many others that it really gives profit in reality based on my experience. Field works improve my confident to some extent and it started to motive not only as a PARE participant but also as an environmentalist who is going to save our environment. Therefore, this program is focus on various skills that it makes the students to think, why and how to solve?

The lectures are very interesting that it was given by the great Hokkaido university professors who are expert researchers having strong experiences such as water quality, agriculture, biological studies, and many others. The professors gave the notes and presentation about the current affairs about the environmental concerns in wide range of topics. Then, the students are asked to solve the quizzes, group presentations and discussion. There, our students from different study background try to solve the problem based on our study and experiences as our best. This is very good way that in solving the problem, group work shows how is it important that it bring better understanding, learning from each other and that is how every industry prioritise the group working.

From this program, I got many new skills and I even more interested in my research. Even though it was online, I got many international friends. As Hokkaido university hosted the PARE summer school, our Hokkaido university participants had to go to field trip and share back our experiences to our group participants. There, in the field trip, it was really interesting that the field works are systematically approached and carried out. Moreover, what I felt is that the University Professors are very kind and explained very well. Moreover, the PARE program staffs are very supportive and always care to the students. I was very glad when I received the PARE program certificate that is part of life achievement which is full of memories. The best personal experience about at the PARE student room is having the Japanese food which is not only beautiful but also delicious provided by the program. So, what I think and regret is that if there was no covid, the program would be more enjoyable that we can see the friends in reality and we can do more group activities that it had in the past in PARE program.

So, I would like to show my gratitude to all the Hokkaido University Professors and PARE program staffs that for creating such great opportunity and I wish PARE program to be reaching, giving great opportunities to the students for many years.
