The main idea of this project is to ma
ke us (young generation) interested in development of Far East and Arctic Zone, because now it is the most significant and perspective region for Russia and Japan.

Experiences in Japan

The most exciting experience I got was when I was engaged in archaeological excavation on the Rebun island. It was my first time to learn excavation process. I couldn’t find any words to describe my feelings when I found the ancient pottery, which was about 3,000 years old. It seemed like we could touch the past. I understood real aims of all archaeological excavation, why it was so important to know about ancient settlements and their lifestyle. I met so many versatile and educated people, we talked a lot about Ainus and Okhotsk people, about their culture and habits.

Influence on future career goals and choices

This practice has not only strengthened my desire to devote my life to the scientific world, but also given me a mental food to think about my future career in the field of international cooperation and education. Particularly strong impact of this practice is on my level of English. Also this experience helped me to overcome language barriers in communication with foreigners. I participated only in the introduction of RJE3 program, but it has changed my life, my vision of the world and it will also contribute to the successful entry to the graduate school.

Comments

This practice had very strong impression on me, now I want to change not only myself, but also the outward things. I’m so thankful for this opportunity to engage in this program, I met so many educated and interesting people, listened lectures of Russian and foreign professors.
